20 year old singer, Tim Perdoch, was born and raised in New York City. His music is a fusion of pop, rock and hip-hop sounds with a huge range of influences from Elton John to Kanye West. Tim gave us a little more detail about his new EP and music.
1. Your EP Face to Face is great, What inspired you in these songs? Which one’s your favorite?
I wrote ‘Face to Face’ at a very weird time in my life. I had been in a few bands that had falling outs, and I was very discouraged because I felt like not only were these relationships with my friends gone, but I also didn’t feel like I was doing my best work musically. I felt like I could do better. So, I set out to do something new and exciting for myself.
I wrote the songs you hear on the EP, worked on them with various musicians (including my band The Conscious Effort) for about 8 months, until I was ready to record them in early spring. I teamed up with an amazing producer, Nick Zinnanti of Zin Records, and after a few months working in the studio, we had the final product.
My favorite song is the title track (‘Face to Face’) because I feel like it sums up all of the emotion I was feeling at the time. It’s definitely the most confessional and open song I’ve written to this point.
2. What do you want to transmit through your music?
Through my music, I tell my story, and I try to reiterate to my audience that they are not alone in their internal struggles. No matter who you are or where you come from, we are all battling and trying to make sense of our lives in this insane world. We all want to be our best.
I have seen firsthand how positive lyrical messages and uplifting melodies can bring people together and create a beautiful bond between human beings. To be able to be a part of something like that and have that influence is something I take very seriously and truly love.
3. What’s your next step in music?
I am actually heading back into the studio this month to work on two new songs that we plan to release as singles. Each of these songs are thematically connected to songs on the EP.
I am creating a small conceptual trilogy through my current catalog of music. Other than that, I’m just trying to play a lot of good shows with my live band and constantly improve as an artist.
